Maltese are unusually prone to playing in puddles. Maltese are believed to have been brought home from the Crusades by returning English knights. Maltese are named for the island of Malta. Maltese were popular with women in the middle ages, and would often be carried in their sleeves, earning them the nickname the Roman Ladies Dog.
